The Peace House is an organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence and abuse. They provide resources like education, outreach, and safe housing in efforts to put an end to domestic violence. The Peace House relies strongly on volunteers and support from the community to reach their goal and protect families from domestic abuse.
The bikes were a great addition to the Peace House, since the new location provides children and families with lots of open space for riding and staying active. Family activities such as these are very important when healing relationships affected by domestic violence. “Connection to the outdoors and vigorous activity helps with integrating trauma. In short, bikes are both fun and healing” states Leisa Mukai, Prevention and Awareness Director of the Peace House.
